After the adventure on the road yesterday, I was really ready to paint today. The weather was a "crap shoot" as Chuck put it. 30% chance of storms all day. Isolated storms.
With the 10 Million Day right around the corner, and the paint on hand, we all said our prayers and got to work.
We're using KEIM mineral coating, a competitor to our Silin paint. There are only a few vendors of potassium silicate paints in the U.S., but fortunately the distributer for KEIM is in Delaware. You can see my post from yesterday if you want the low down on that adventure. In any case, the product we used today was not the same as we've been using, but a compatible product. I actually must admit to liking it better. It was thicker, less watery, easier to use. It went on thicker as well. But then we were also not diluting it as much, per the instructions I was given for a top coat. We'll see over the years if there's any difference in performance.
The greatest part about these paints is they are designed specifically for concrete, they breath, while protecting the concrete, and more than that, they NEVER HAVE TO BE SCRAPED! To those of us who toiled under the sandblasting helmet that's a sweet sound.
In any case, it was a great day...so have a look...
