August 11th...Beauty and challenge...

It's been a real challenge to get to this point. It took a lot of effort, coordination and cooperation to get the Stupa finished for a 10 Million Day celebration, but with such great support, we pulled it off!

Today we just continued our fine tuning of the work, getting those last details attended to. We still have a go 'round with white paint fix some paint drips and scrapes from our work the last few days, but that's about it. The new plexiglas will be here tomorrow, and once we get some desiccant we'll put that behind the brocades (to prevent moisture from building up inside the gau, hopefully preventing that mold that builds up). We'll run some weather stripping around the gau. We'll paint it gold, if it looks awful we'll take it down and use clear caulk instead. We keep thinking about maintenance, we want to make maintaining this Stupa as easy as possible, to ensure it will get done. So the weather stripping will protect the interior from rain or other debris outside, while still allowing for easy removal of the plexiglas for cleaning. The caulk might prevent some from taking the glass down, thus creating a barrier to keeping the gau clean. That's our thinking anyhow. But these really are final details.

You can see what we did today...
