August 14th...looking ahead...

This is a shot from April 7th! It was waaaay back then that this scene occurred. We started this project March 27, so it took less than two weeks to remove all the paint from the Stupa Park. Whew. No wonder it felt like the Enlightenment Stupa was taking forever! It was!

From mid-April until this past week, that's where we've worked (for the most part), finally finishing the Enlightenment Stupa last week. We've got some final touching up to do, a little white paint to cover paint drips and footprints left by our final pass last week, a little weather stripping to keep Guru Rinpoche protected from rain, and soon a little desiccant to keep the gau dry and free of mold, and we can leave it alone for a while. All of us on the Stupa team realized a while ago this will actually never be DONE. ; )

This week, if we're lucky, we can again turn our focus on the Stupa Park. We're still waiting for paint (yes it's ordered, yes it's paid for, we're now just waiting for the shipment to arrive) from California, the gold. Lisa Banana will be joining us in the evenings to tidy up repairs out there. With luck and a truck to haul water we'll be out power washing the Stupas one more time before painting (it has been a LONG time since this photo of when the park was first stripped!).

There are plans being developed for the Long Life Stupa base (not firmed up yet). We have new Buddha reliefs cooking in a foundry out in Arizona (bronze to replace our deteriorated resin ones), and there is a team forming (not us) to re-do the landscaping out there once we've completed the concrete restoration. So the Stupa team is turning it's gaze back to the Stupa Park, hoping to get yet another landmark reached. Completing this Park will leave only Migyur Dorje and the small Stupas to go!

You can scan our archives to see glimpses of all the Stupas in our plans. Every one of them is a source of blessings, and they are located throughout our 65 acres of wooded parkland, from as close as our parking lot, to as remote and peaceful as this precious Stupa Park. They are here for you, for anyone seeking a refuge from the chaos and stresses of modern life, looking for healing from illness or just plain looking for a quiet walk. For those of you who can't make it to Poolesville, Maryland, don't fret! The images you see on these pages carry blessings with them as well! So you can always visit them here! Posted by Picasa
