So, even though everyone showed up today dressed for repair work, we ended up inside, hashing out display details and brainstorming fund raising options. Ashby has been working on a display for each of the main Stupas, and invited us over to work on the content. You can see we had lunch while we were at it. It is our hope to get them up within a week or two. Their purpose is to give some basic background on the Stupas, with some information specific to each one. That way, when you come out, you'll have some idea what you're looking at!
Tomorrow it threatens to rain again, but it is my goal to get some work done outside even so. In Maryland the storms usually break out in the evening, so if I can get started early enough the repairs to the Enlightenment Stupa might just get finished! We'll see though...Norbu is concerned the rain might destroy our work and waste some of the precious mortar, so I won't be foolish. We're all eager to get it going though...paint is right around the corner. We may, in fact, begin building a platform out a Migyur Dorje as early as next Tuesday! We can build while we wait for improved weather (the paint takes 48 hours to cure, with the storms coming this week we can't even consider applying it).
Remember, the Stupas are always here, rain or shine, night or day, bringing blessings to all who encounter them, whether intentionally or not. Please come on out and take advantage of their tremendous blessings! Rest assured, we'll keep this blog going as well, so they're only a mouse click away!
