With the clouds teasing us for a few hours, we decided to just not take a chance. We went on a field trip we've been discussing. About 40 minutes from the temple, nestled in the middle of real farm country (you make one wrong turn out there and it can take a long time to realize it!), is Lilypons Water Gardens. They raise and sell water flowers, including lotuses (are all of them lotuses or is there a difference between a lotus and a water lily?). Anyway, they have flowers. They also raise and sell koi, or fish for ponds. Ashby is an artist, and I love to take pictures (this blog formed a new habit for me..), so we went to gather some source material for future multimedia work....
