October 8th...Devotion...

Though I worked at the hospital all day, and it rained all day, the Stupas remain available to all who take the time to visit them.

This is a shot of the Enlightenment Stupa taken back on September 18th, the day before we left for Alabama. It is located right next to the parking lot, couldn't get easier to find. This Stupa was built in 1988, under the direction of His Holiness Drubwang Penor Rinpoche, at the request of Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo. During the time of it's construction, a month long series of empowerments was going (very intense!) on at the temple, and it was during that time that Jetsunma was officially enthroned and authorized to teach!

Thus, this Stupa roots the very beginning of the transmission of the Palyul Tradition from India (where His Holiness resides after fleeing Tibet), to the United States. It remains steadfast, offering it's blessings in total equanimity to Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. All of this exists right here, in Poolesville, Maryland. Open 24 hours every day. So come on out and see it for yourself! Posted by Picasa
