When using the M90 the key to a successful repair is grinding out all loose material and creating "shoulders" for the repair material. It should have something to grab onto on all sides solidly. Unlike drywall finishing (which many of us have done so this process took some getting use to) you don't "feather" the material, it should sit flush with the surface surrounding it...
