When we got back to the temple, Michelle, who runs the children's program here at KPC, stopped us to ask if we could help her. The studio, where her classes take place, had been pressed into service as a temporary holding area for donations we'd received for Katrina Victims. Though the vast majority of items had been delivered, we had a small supply of food items that we'd been holding. The amount was too small to warrant a truck hauling it down to the Gulf Coast (that is expensive), and we were unable to find any other relief aid heading south to piggy back onto. So we opted to send money to the Gulf Coast in place of the food, so they could provide food from local vendors in the area, and offer the food we had to local organizations that feed the poor. All of this occurred outside the limited field of awareness of the Stupa Crew (we tend to be "outsiders", not just literally, but often don't hear all this news). However, they needed our truck. Knowing the truck was donated to be of benefit to beings, we were happy to pitch in... Posted by Picasa
