Lisa works at an art gallery in DC, so they use plexi for many displays. She found this product there which they use to clean it (we've found plexi to be VERY fussy, easy to smear, streak, scratch and cloud). We know cleaning off the old caulk might be impossible, but we're hoping this might help us...
