May 14th...Last minute rescues....

Today is not only Mother's Day, but the anniversary of Terton Migyur Dorje. This sublime master was the root teacher of the founders of our lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, and the revealer of the Nam Cho Cycle of Teachings, which forms one of the bedrocks of our practice. His relics are housed in the Migyur Dorje Stupa right here in suburban Maryland!! How amazing is that??

So, a sight like this one on this day was, needless to say, alarming. If you can't make it out, this is one of the termas mounted on the four directions of the Stupa...and those are bare screws you see projecting from the top! Yup...the screws pulled out from the Stupa!! A while back it had been mounted (after we had repaired it) but the parties who put it back up (we're still greatful for their effort...at least it's up!) did not use anchors in the concrete, and the screws pulled out. Yikes! All we could do was be extremely greatful we found it here, and not on the ground! Posted by Picasa
