May 6th...Impermanence and Opportunities...

Today was a short work day. Khenpo Norgye is teaching at the temple this weekend, and giving 4 empowerments! Lots of preparation happening as we speak for that, but we had to get some work in on the Stupas...

Quang, who has been coming out several days a week, helped me sandblast while Norbu built the railing on the platform. It was short but intense, and we got quite a bit done. Ani Rene is back in town and brought Khenpo Norgye down to see the work. Sorry, no pictures....when I'm working with a small crew it's tough to break away with the camera...but he got a great kick out of it!

We were invited to eat lunch with Khenpo, and couldn't refuse. Unfortunately, by the time lunch was over Norbu and Quang were both off to work. As Norbu was certain would happen, someone did appear to help me finish out the day! Ani Hesper stepped away from her torma making (empowerments require tormas) to get a chance to operate the hose on the sandblaster! She loved it, and stayed all the way through cleaning up to help me! Thanks Hesper!

My camera, as I suspected it eventually would, took it's last shot today. The sand and dust just took it's toll. I knew it would happen sooner or later. Suggestions on a weather/dust resistant model would be welcome! : )

I've got to run, getting ready for the teaching tonight. For those of you following this in Maryland or Virginia, please do consider coming and attending some of the event this weekend! How wonderful to have a teacher present to offer us wisdom, and empowerments! To see the schedule you can click on the link to the Maryland KPC site on this page...

We'll be back to work on Monday, with more photos (somehow). ; ) Please do visit over the weekend though, I'll post some more history/information on the meaning/symbolisim of Stupas. It is my aspiration that you never need go a day without seeing a Stupa!
