Today I was at work, and Norbu was dealing with his truck, so work on the Stupas was on hold. Tomorrow we're both back out, and hopefully towing the compressor and pot out to the Stupa Park to complete the clearing of paint from the base of the Long Life Stupa! Perhaps with all the drama of the Enlightenment Stupa you thought we forgot this, but it's been on our mind all this time. Just needed to get a truck with the right kind of hitch, and the power to tow up that rutted, muddy road. Sherab's truck fits the bill...we hope...
Ani Sherab will also be completing the lotus petals (again, we hope, as long as the materials arrived today as planned).
Key players in the Stupa Crew are also gearing up for a trip to New York next week. We're going to learn the traditional teachings on filling statues. It may sound unrelated, but they are very close actually, statues and Stupas. I'm not sure if I'll be able to post from there (New York Retreat Center, I don't know I'll have any internet access...), but will try. If not, I'll post a LOT when we get back! We'll be gone for 3 days. We're not leaving until next Tuesday though, and have plenty to keep us busy until then! If we're really lucky, we'll get some skilled folks out to learn how to repair the Enlightenment Stupa this weekend, so they can complete repairs while we're gone. Maybe not...we'll see. : )
Back to work on the Stupas tomorrow so I'm off to bed! Please come on out tomorrow if you can! It is suppose to actually be sunny (what does that look like?) and pleasant. : ) A great day to take in the sights, the Enlightenment Stupa is now free of paint, and we'll be working on the Long Life Stupa again (lotus petals and base). If you'd like to help we'll teach you how, and if you want to just walk around them and make offerings, we'll get out of your way! Otherwise, check us out here tomorrow, and I'll post photos of our efforts!
