January 14th...Happy Birthday Mom!

Tomorrow is my Mom's birthday. Since I'm working the weekend, I visited her today.

When entering the path our teachers always tell us that in order to cultivate compassion one should contemplate the kindness of one's mother. In Tibet, one's mother is considered to be the very embodiment of kindness and selfless compassion. Though I've heard some practitioners say they have not had that experience, I must say with tremendous gratitude that I have. So I offer whatever merit or virtue has been generated by all my activity, and whatever accomplishment I am able to complete, to repaying the great kindness of my Mother. May she, and all sentient beings, become free of suffering, and reside in the ceaseless bliss of liberation.Posted by Picasa
