May 13th...What is needed...

I was finally back on site today (2 days away seems eternal!). The new pot (not actually new, but the one we have for now) was not easy to work with. When it worked it was great, but it was fussy. It got the job done though...

Quang came out, as did Ashby and Norbu. We all started the day together. Ashby took time off when he realized Quang and I could handle the sandblasting, he had a long day out here yesterday. He stayed around the temple though, to jump in when needed. : )

When Quang had to leave (he works in the afternoon) Charlie showed up (almost exact timing!) so I could continue sandblasting without interruption! Norbu had to go to work as well, so it was Charlie and I for a good part of the afternoon. We had a chunk of mulch jam the hose, and had trouble adjusting the flow of sand from the pot, but we got some work done. When Charlie had to go inside for his prayer shift, Ashby came back out, so we could finish the steps today.

Norbu tweaked the hoist set up and then turned his attention to building a bat house. Our teacher had requested a bat house for her residence (she has many bird feeders as well), and we decided it would be really cool to have them for the Stupas also! All those little beings could purify all their karma every day they see the Stupa!

We'll be back out tomorrow to see what we can do. I'm hoping to get up on the bumpa, but that will depend on who shows up to work. Norbu will be around for a few hours, but has to work in the afternoon. Sangha meeting tomorrow (they've put me on the schedule to talk about the project, even though I said I didn't want to stop working for that long...so I'll have to go to the meeting for an hour mid-day). The good news about that is I might be able to get some folks interested in getting their hands dirty!

As usual I'll end by inviting you to come see the Stupas! Come out and enjoy the parks, the walks, but most of all, the Stupas! If you'd like to help us work on them there's huge benefit to anyone who repairs a Stupa. More than that, it's fun! You don't have to know what to do, and if you don't like it we won't mind if you leave. It is our goal to give everyone with even the slightest interest a chance to share this amazing activity. If you'd rather just hang back and watch that's okay too! We're working on the Stupas to keep them in the world for generations, so countless beings can benefit from their immense spiritual power. It is our greatest joy to share them with you, whether here on these pages, or in Poolesville, Maryland, in person. Bring your friends, your family, your pets, heck, bring your enemies! The Stupas are for all beings, no one is left out. Their blessings require no understanding, no knowledge, no recognition, all they require is that you see them (this includes photos!), feel the wind that blows over them, or remember them. That's all. And they'll give you the blessing of true Enlightenment planted as a seed in your mind, sure to ripen someday! Not a bad deal eh?
