Though I was working (at my job), there was a lot going on out at the Stupas today! Repairs continued at the Stupa Park, while a crew dug in and started working on the Enlightenment Stupa. Thanks Norbu for all the wonderful photos!
For myself, I can only pay homage to these kind hearted practitioners. It is truly inspiring to see them coming together and working so hard! It is clear from the photos that the work was not easy, and the "instant gratification" factor wasn't there today, but they persevered.
For all those who doubt that compassion still exists in the world, take a look at the photos below. None of these people has anything to gain from spending their weekend out in the sun, chipping at unyielding concrete coatings, at least not in an ordinary way. They are all gathered here to contribute to the welfare of all animate beings, to plant the seeds for peace in the world, by restoring these spiritual power houses (Stupas). The Stupas are our offering to the world, the offering of our teacher, Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo. It is said Stupas bring benefit to any being it comes in contact with, whether it's an insect crawling on it, a bird flying over head, or a skunk touched by the wind that blows over it. We humans are a very small portion of those touched by these precious structures. Those you see on these pages are devoting themselves to preserving this source of blessing and benefit for many lifetimes. They are real people, this is a real aspiration, and it is happening, right now, in this ever more chaotic world....
May all beings rejoice in this meritorious activity! May all beings share equally in all virtue and merit generated! May all of this be devoted to the swift end of suffering, and may all our efforts be dedicated to the effortless enlightenment of all beings.
