April 22nd Plans, budget, aching bodies...

We did meet today with the intention to continue sandblasting. Norbu works Friday evenings, so his departure time was going to be 2 pm, so we decided to take a break from the physical work today (given the time required to set up and take everything down we wouldn't have gotten much done). We gathered in KT's apartment to work through things we've been putting off, like looking at our projected budget, time lines, and organizing work for the weekend crew.

After talking it out we decided to call Rentals Unlimited and extend our rental to a month for the sandblaster and compressor. There's no way we'd be done with what we need to by Tuesday. We also ordered 150 bags of sand! Whew! Who knew it would be like this...But if Milarepa could build tower after tower, we can lug bag after bag of sand.

We set some goals, hoping to have the Enlightenment Stupa ready for paint by May 23, for the next 10 Million Day, so we can have the whole sangha gather to paint on that auspicious occasion! We could use all the prayers we can get, as this is hard work, and we've had our share of obstacles to overcome (and we're fairly certain that isn't over...).

The plan for now is to have a crew out tomorrow to sandblast. Pete, Philip and Chuck have said they could make it out there. Pete and Chuck have both been out this week and have worked with the equipment before. Philip is a quick study and ready to help. Let's wish this back up crew smooth sailing! If I can get one of them to take a few photos and email me I'll post them tomorrow night. : )

This project is much more than manual labor and product purchases. There are people saying prayers in the prayer room for us, there are people working on servers for us (this blog will be relocated at some point in the future, so we can bring you more content, like audio and video files, in addition to photos), and there are people worrying about how to raise the funds for this as well. All of us are working to restore these precious Stupas to their rightful state. It fills our hearts with joy when we see visitors come to make offerings or circumambulate, or even just to look. Please do come and see them, any time.

May all these efforts result in the complete enlightenment of all sentient beings, placing each and every one in unending joy!
