The stupa was built in the summer of 1988 while we were simultaneously preparing to host HH Penor Rinpoche and his entourage for the 10 week cycle of teachings, the Rinchen Terzod. That is also the same time we sewed all the umbrellas (both the cotton and the silky ones), the room ruffles, the throne covers, as well as building the thrones, planting the gardens, and getting the then-retreat center ready for the monks to occupy. All this while working our day jobs. It was amazing how much was accomplished in such a short time!
